日本, お久しぶり!
Returning to Japan in July of 2010 after a 7 year absence was a bit surreal. I honestly believe I saw more temples, shrines and matsuri (festivals) in those two weeks traipsing around Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and other cities than I did when I lived in Japan for two years. In that short amount of time I visited the infamous Yasukuni Shrine; had a beer at a Buddhist temple/bar; worshiped at the austere and sacred Ise, chatted with a half dozen Buddhist and Shinto priests and partook in Mitarashi Matsuri, a ritual which is supposed to ensure good health. I'm looking forward to visiting Japan again in the near future - however this time I'd like to return to Kikuchi, a place I used to call home. じゃあ、またね |
